STEVEN E. BERNSTEIN
Steven joined Kennedy, PC Law Offices in 2012. He entered the health care law field in 1979 with Berriman & Schwartz (the first “boutique” health care law firm established in eastern Pennsylvania). Mr. Bernstein maintained a solo health care law practice from 1992 through 2008, representing mainly nursing homes on a wide range of regulatory and transactional issues. Working out of Kennedy, PC’s greater Philadelphia office, Mr. Bernstein helps the firm’s nursing home clients get paid for the services they provide to their residents, whether by standard collection techniques or by hands-on efforts to establish the residents’ eligibility for Medical Assistance (or Medicaid) benefits. Proud to have earned an “AV” rating (the highest rating awarded) from the Martindale-Hubbell attorney rating system, Mr. Bernstein concentrates his practice on Medicaid eligibility, guardianships, estate claims and collections.
Mr. Bernstein is a 1973 graduate of Franklin & Marshall College and a 1976 graduate of Villanova Law
School. As a long-time member of the American Health Lawyers Association (AHLA) and of the
Pennsylvania Bar Association, Mr. Bernstein served as a presenter at several of AHLA’s “Long-Term Care
and The Law” Program as well as at the Pennsylvania Bar Institute’s “Health Law Institute” and other
PBI health law programs.
Mr. Bernstein resides in Eagleville, PA with his wife, Nancy, and when he’s not practicing law, he’s likely
performing 60s music as a Beatles- and James Taylor-inspired singer-guitarist.
